“Art has never felt like a choice to me; it has always been part of who I am, ” affirms Jazmín Luna who has been immersed in the world of art since she was able to pick up a paintbrush.
“ Painting has lived within me for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was constantly painting landscapes, nature, and trees. That deep connection to the natural world is still very present in my work today.”
Born in southern Spain to British-Spanish parents, Jazmín has grown up among the inspiring landscapes of the Mediterranean, surroundings that have found their way onto her canvases, in an ever-changing evolution of styles, compositions and colours.
Schooled in art throughout her early years in Marbella, from a very young age, Jazmín Luna received awards and recognition. By the age of nine she knew that she wanted to study Fine Art at the Manchester School of Art, close to where her grandparents lived in Cheshire. “I followed that dream with absolute clarity and determination.”
On the very first day of her Fine Art degree, the students were told we could create ‘absolutely anything we wanted.’ “That was a shock, as the Spanish system is far more technical. This meant I arrived with a strong foundation in drawing and painting. Art history also played a huge role in shaping my work, allowing me to engage not only with my own ideas but also with centuries of artistic exploration, encouraging experimentation and freedom.”
A Mélange of Influences
Jazmín Luna’s work has been shaped by many journeys, cultures and artists around the world, starting with Spain and her Málaga roots. “Picasso naturally played an important role in my early years, as did artists such as Frida Kahlo and more recently, Ofili. Over time, my palette has softened and my approach has evolved, drawing me closer to artists such as Monet, Egon Schiele, and above all, my lifelong favourite, J.M.W. Turner.
“In Spain, the landscapes, the sea, the light are endlessly inspiring— there is simply nothing like it in the world,” enthuses Jazmín Luna.
“The UK has also influenced my work through its moody, windy, almost Nordic movement, which I love. It brings a different kind of light, emotion and warmth compared to the Mediterranean. I’m also deeply inspired by the many countries I’ve travelled to, from South America to Southeast Asia — their colours, textures, shapes, and materials. These experiences taught me that painting doesn’t have to live only on canvas; pigments can interact with metal, wood, and many other surfaces”.
Over time, progressing from classic scenes of andalusian white houses, blue skies and palm trees, Jazmín Luna’s work has evolved into more subtle scenes, such as the work currently on display at NCH Dallimore Marbella.
Vast and dramatic, at 3 x 3 metres in size, Tramuntana is the largest piece Jazmín Luna has painted to date. Reflecting the beauty of the spectacular Mallorcan Tramuntana mountain range… a dramatic world heritage site, the muted Mediterranean colour palette, blurred lines and mysterious mistiness are, indeed, reminiscent of Turner.

“This painting is inspired by the place we currently live in Mallorca, between the mountains and the sea, surrounded by nature and trees. It truly feels like a small piece of paradise, and I hope it never changes. Art has the power to stop time, and I love that — capturing moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.”
Jazmín Luna describes her process in creating this masterpiece.
“I begin on the ground, with the canvas resting on glass or the floor, almost camouflaged. The first layer is about breaking the intimidating whiteness of the canvas, using diluted paint and water. From there, the work builds slowly — layer after layer — filled with emotions, memories, of places and feelings from the days or weeks before. Even if they are not visible, the people and places I’ve experienced are always present in the emotional core of the painting.”
Another intriguing work exhibited is Finestra, (200 x 100 cm, mixed media on canvas). Meaning “window” in Catalan, this work represents a window opening onto the sea, wind, sun, and mountains of the Mediterranean. It was painted plein air at Jazmín’s studio in Andratx, Mallorca.

Also featured on the walls of NCH Dallimore’s swish and inviting contemporary offices, is the work Parque del Retiro (168 × 102 cm). Painted on copper using a special fixing medium to ensure the surface does not change colour over time, the piece was created in Jazmín’s studio and placed in a black wooden frame. It was inspired by a rainy day spent with friends in Madrid.

A philosophy of “less is more” informs Jazmín’s art reflecting a deep appreciation for simplicity, emotion, and subtle details that define human experience.
Her artistic path has evolved through several phases – from realism to figurative representation, and now towards a refined figurative abstraction.
Awakening Emotions
“I paint the moment I am living in. Figurative abstraction feels very honest to where I am today — a balance between form and emotion. With time, I hope to move towards complete abstraction, allowing viewers to interpret the work freely. For me, art is emotion; it should move something inside us.”
Each stage mirrors her continual exploration of identity, movement and the impressions left by the diverse places she has called home, or travelled through.
Having exhibited internationally, Jazmín shares her visual language with audiences across different countries, allowing her work to resonate on a global scale.
Open to interpretation, her art invites viewers to engage in their own emotions and perspectives. Jazmín Luna believes in the transformative power of art – its ability to evoke feeling, spark awareness and open a space for introspection.
“I want people to feel something — anything — as long as they are truly present. Art allows us to disconnect from busy lives, even if only for a few seconds. In a world where it feels harder every day to live in the moment, I hope my paintings can act as a form of therapy, reconnecting people with their own emotions.
“Exhibiting here in Marbella, feels like coming home. It’s incredibly special to return, see familiar faces, and share my work with family, friends and the community that shaped me,” affirms the artist.
The works exhibited at NCH Dallimore Marbella are large format pieces with impact, so how does Jazmín Luna envisage them hanging on the walls of a Marbella home?
“I see them as statement pieces — artworks that breathe with the space. They work beautifully in light-filled interiors, where their movement and softness can interact with the architecture and the Mediterranean light, becoming part of the home’s emotional atmosphere.
“I have completed many private commissions that are highly personalized. While I never create copies — as no two paintings can ever be the same — I adapt to size, style, and certain colour palettes to create something truly unique for each client’s home”.
