Relaxed Beach & Town Living
Part of the municipality of Marbella includes the bustling town of San Pedro de Alcántara which retains much of its authentic Spanish ambience. Located just 10 kilometres west of Marbella, and 2 kilometres west of Puerto Banús, the town is located at the beginning of the beautiful Ronda road, and has the stunning backdrop of the Sierra de Ronda mountains, bordering the municipality of Benahavis and reaching down to the shores of the Mediterranean.
The town of San Pedro has become increasingly popular in the last few years with both holidaymakers and foreign residents as a place to buy property. The area is divided by the main coastal road; on the inland side is the Old Town with its narrow, cobbled streets, pretty squares and churches and tiny local stores, while on the beachside are the new urbanizations, long stretches of beach, and a charming beachside promenade that is home to some excellent beach bars and restaurants including Kala Kalua – and Nuevo Reino, Bora Bora and Macaao Beach.
Offering a variety of settings, beachside, village, suburbs, golf, with an equally attractive array of properties, property prices are generally lower than Marbella, while offering many similar attractions in a more tranquil environment. Apartments and small houses in the town centre will give you a taste of authentic Andalusian village life, while the surrounding suburbs offer a variety of traditional and newly built developments and villas.

Nueva Alcántara
The area leading from the beach to the town has several established and new residential complexes with exuberant sub-tropical gardens and swimming pools, some with direct access to the beach.
An original footbridge, of striking design, and a modern urban park were recently built between the beaches and the town, breathing new life into the town’s leisurely landscape. There are several quality hotels in San Pedro, and all are within easy driving distance of a variety of high-quality golf courses, where you have a choice of attractive frontline golf townhouses and apartments.
Guadalmina
Next to San Pedro de Alcantara to the west is Guadalmina, the long-established preferred holiday home destination of Spanish high society. Gradually developing with old-school style since the 1930s, classic villas in large, private gardens now live comfortably alongside village-style developments, striking modern villas and attractive townhouses.
Guadalmina borders the beach, and golf course, as well as having a good commercial centre with individual décor stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafés and a host of amenities. Great restaurants in Guadalmina include El Asador, La Rosa, Pan y Chocolate while the large decor emporium La Fabrica de Hielo is a treasure trove of unique items for the home.
The area spans both the beach and mountain side of the main coastal highway, divided into Guadalmina Baja on the beach side, and Guadalmina Alta on the mountain side. While Baja is walking distance to the beach, and home to the well-known San José school, Guadalmina Alta boasts equally beautiful properties, and is close to the golf driving range and cable ski facilities. Another plus to living in Guadalmina is being just a 5-minute drive away from Puerto Banús.
